Castle Comics

There has been a sudden surge in interest about a project that I did a few years ago called Castle Comics and I thought it worth noting here.

I decided to produce my very own specialist comic based upon the eccentric crackpot inhabitants of a place called D'Boncy Castle and its environs. With traditional comic fair like Snobby Hood, William the Konk, Brother Tonsurlitus, Sir Charge, Lancelittle, William Wally and Darth Crusader, it was a light hearted, slapstick jaunt through merry olde England.

Initial sales were very high and I eventually sold it into around 250 castle gift shops up and down the country.

Although it was a comic it was produced to the same publishing standards as the Europeans; with heavy card cover and high quality stock mat art paper and full colour printing through out, it was fixed with a higher than normal price tag of £4.99. But because the public saw this more as a higher quality comic than you normally get on the news stands, there was no sales resistance to the price: People, it seems, don't mind paying more if they feel they're getting more for their money.

Any way, I've received a steady stream of requests for more title, not only from the shops that stock it but from people as far away as the States, all over Europe and oh so many people a lot closer to home. So, as I write this, and bowing to public and commercial pressure, the second one is in my mind for production on an annual basis.
