These scripts were given to me by ComicFootball, a client I do a fair amount of work for. They're looking to syndicated the strips and wanted an artist who could produce comic strip style ideas for their ongoing market. Thankfully they thought of me.
The strip centres around a frustrated manager of a hopeless but enthusiastic team; it is hoped that this will appeal to all the hopeless and frustrated Sunday morning soccer players

Football Crazy
One of my regular clients (the ones I draw the Villa comic for) are launching their own monthly football comic and I've been asked to contribute a few pages for it. The one shown here is both written and illustrated by myself, but another that they want from me will be written by people with street cred. and the lingo to go with it...watch this blog for that update, it should be an eye opener.

Kids stuff
A charity are doing a parachute jump for Teddies and another of my client newspapers asked me to produce a suitable cartoon for it...I really don't know how or why they use the words please and suitable in any sentence when communicating with a cartoonist; sensible is something we just don't do and please just makes us smile like we have a bad attack of wind.
Anyway, the inspiration for this cartoon came from my own childhood; don't feel sorry for my sister, she deserved it, she wore a grove in the carpet diddling to Mom and Dad about me!

Wedded Bliss
This one from another of my client newspapers was about a couple who've been married for 70 years! Amazing. I think I managed 15 and thought that deserved a lap of honour.
They apparently met during the second world war and that is what the cartoon refers to

Sponsored by
Shropshire Council have decided a good way to make money is to have local businesses sponsor the grass cutting exploits of their Highways Department. They think its a great idea for both local businesses, who get the exposure, and the council, who have some of the costs of their park, vergeway and roadside cutting costs, met.
Only the council could hit such glaring heights of hypocracy, as it wasn't that long ago that they were banning people putting up roadside 'Happy Birthday' banners as they were seen as potential road hazards for people driving by who may be distracted and have an accident. This law they enforced under the auspeces of Health and Safety; obviously they sent Health and Safety out for a sanwhich when they passed this latest little gem.
They also say its a good way for the council to earn money and not just spend it: However, they managed to bring this little trick into the public domain AFTER they savagly axed countless council jobs in the latest spending cuts. None of which came from the top, I noticed

This Months New Strips
So another month rolls by and here are two regular strips I draw for specialist magazines, the first is Model Family which I write and draw for RCM&E, a model aeroplane enthusiast magazine and the second is Chip 'n' Gail which goes on the website for Woodworking magazine and is about a hapless DIY woodworking fanatic and his poor wife who has to suffer his abuse of wood
Specialist strips is a service I offer for any trade or hobby magazine. I have no personal expertise in any of the fields above, but through study and character personality I'm able to produce strips that the readers both like and identify with.
Enjoy, they'll be more next month
